Concussion After a Motor Vehicle Accident or Workplace Injury
If you've suffered a concussion in a motor vehicle accident or at work, you may be entitled to have your physiotherapy covered under your insurance scheme. At Darwin Health Group, we work directly with insurers and case managers to make the process as straightforward as possible so you can focus on getting better.
Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVA)
Concussion is a common injury following MVAs, even in low-speed collisions. Symptoms don't always appear immediately, and it's not unusual for headaches, dizziness, neck pain, or cognitive changes to develop in the days after an accident.
Our physiotherapist Rhi can complete a thorough concussion assessment and provide evidence-based rehabilitation tailored to your recovery needs. We're experienced in working within the NT's Motor Accident Compensation scheme and can liaise with your insurer, treating GP, and any other health providers involved in your care.
What we can help with following an MVA:
-
Assessment and diagnosis of post-concussion symptoms
-
Neck and vestibular rehabilitation
-
Symptom tracking and clinical progress reporting for your insurer
-
Coordination with your GP and treating specialists
-
Return-to-work and return-to-activity planning
You'll typically need a referral or claim number from your insurer before your first appointment. If you're unsure where to start, contact our team and we'll help guide you through the process.

Workers Compensation
Concussions sustained at work, whether from a fall, being struck by an object, or another workplace incident, are covered under the NT WorkCover scheme.
Early physiotherapy input is associated with better recovery outcomes, and prompt assessment can also help protect your entitlements. We are registered Workers Compensation providers and are familiar with the reporting requirements under NT WorkCover. Rhi can complete your initial assessment, provide ongoing rehabilitation, and prepare the clinical documentation your insurer or employer requires throughout your claim.
What we provide for Workers Compensation claims:
-
Initial concussion assessment with detailed clinical documentation
-
Ongoing treatment and rehabilitation
-
Progress reporting to your insurer and case manager
-
Work capacity assessments and return-to-work program support
-
Communication with your employer, GP, and WorkCover case manager
To get started, you'll need a referral from your GP or treating medical officer along with your WorkCover claim number. Our admin team can assist with any questions about the process.
Funding and billing
We handle the billing directly with your insurer so there are no out-of-pocket costs for approved treatment. If your claim is still being processed or you're unsure about your coverage, get in touch and we'll help you work through your options.
